for week of May 1, 2006: Automatic driller (noun) A weight control device used to maintain constant weight on the bit while the driller is not at the brake controls. A common "poor boy" setup for an automatic driller is to tie off the brake handle with soft line and a small drill bit, or other weighted object, to serve as a counterweight. The soft line is arranged such that a relatively constant weight can be temporarily maintained on the bit. |
