Company News

Clear Creek Associates celebrated its ten-year anniversary in 2009. The Phoenix-Scottsdale office opened its doors on September 7, 1999, and the Tucson office opened on November 1, 1999.
As we mark our first decade in business, we are pleased to announce the opening of two new offices. Our Northern Virginia office is in historic Leesburg, about fifteen minutes west of Washington-Dulles Airport. The office is managed by Michael Alter, P.G. (VA, PA, AZ). Our new California office is located in Claremont, about fifteen minutes west of the Ontario Airport. In addition to his ongoing involvement with Arizona projects, Marvin Glotfelty, R.G. (AZ, CA), manages the California office.

In the Scientific Community

Clear Creek Associates is committed to promoting dialogue that benefits the hydrologic and geologic sciences.

Marvin Glotfelty was recently selected as the 2012 McEllhiney Lecturer by the National Ground Water Research and Educational Foundation. The McEllhiney lecture series was established to foster professional excellence in water-well technology. Initiated in 2000, the series honors William A. McEllhiney, the founding president, in 1948, of the National Ground Water Association, and a groundwater contractor and civil engineer from Brookfield, Illinois. Marvin’s McEllhiney lecture will be “Life-Cycle Economic Analysis of Water Wells: Considerations for Design and Construction.”
In September 2008, we were pleased to be a sponsor of the event that combined the 45th annual meeting of the American Institute of Professional Geologists, the 21st annual symposium of the Arizona Hydrological Society, and the Third International Professional Geologic Conference. Clear Creek staff geologist Barbara Murphy was general chairperson of the conference, which examined "Changing Waterscapes and Water Ethics for the 21st Century" and "Global Geoscience Practice, Standards, Ethics, and Accountability."

ISMAR6
Clear Creek Associates was a major sponsor of the Sixth International Symposium on Managed Aquifer Recharge conference held in October 2007. Doug Bartlett was co-chairman of the conference. More than 300 of the world’s experts on managed aquifer recharge, from twenty-six countries and twenty-seven U.S. states, attended the event.
Clear Creek Associates was a silver-level sponsor of the Ores & Orogenesis Symposium in September 2007. Mike Alter was an active member of the planning committee for the symposium, which was hosted by the Arizona Geological Society and co-sponsored by the USGS, the Arizona Geological Survey, SME, SEG, and the Geological Society of Nevada. More than 900 geologists and mining professionals attended the week-long event, which focused on Circum-Pacific tectonics, geologic evolution and ore deposits.
Clear Creek Associates actively supports the annual Tri-State Seminar on the River. Clear Creek staff serve on the organizing committee and give technical presentations at the seminar.

Community Involvement

Clear Creek Associates is supportive of various nonprofit organizations through financial donations and volunteer service.

Water for People golf
Clear Creek Associates is a sponsor of the Water for People’s Annual Southern Arizona Golf Classic. Over 884 million people around the world do not have access to safe drinking water, and every day nearly 6,000 people who share our planet die from water-related illnesses, the majority of them children. Water for People is a nonprofit international organization that supports the development of locally sustainable drinking-water resources, sanitation facilities, and health and hygiene education programs.

St Vincent de Paul breakfast

Clear Creek Associates along with several dozen other local firms comprise the Phoenix chapter of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s Corporate Breakfast Club. This group of businesses is committed to helping the homeless and feeding the hungry—literally: the second Monday of each month, CCA employees and other volunteers don aprons and serve breakfast and visit with homeless and working poor at the dining room in downtown Phoenix. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international lay organization that serves the needs of the poor and provides an opportunity for those more fortunate to serve others. The local chapter has been assisting Arizona families since 1946.
