Marvin Glotfelty was selected as the 2012 McEllhiney Lecturer by the National Ground Water Association (NGWA) Research and Educational Foundation. The McEllhiney lecture series was established to foster professional excellence in water-well technology. Initiated in 2000, the series honors William A. McEllhiney, the founding president, in 1948, of the National Ground Water Association, and a groundwater contractor and civil engineer from Brookfield, Illinois. Marvin’s McEllhiney lecture will be “Life-Cycle Economic Analysis of Water Wells: Considerations for Design and Construction." Mr Glotfelty also serves on the Northern Arizona University College of Engineering and Natural Sciences advisory council and is a guest lecturer in the university’s geology department. He has been active with the Arizona Water Well Association. Marvin is a board member of the Arizona Hydrological Society Foundation.” Barbara Murphy was elected National President of the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) for 2011-2012. She is also the AIPG representative to the Congressional Hazards Caucus Alliance with the American Geological Institute. Barb also serves as chairperson of the Arizona Geological Survey's Geologic Mapping Advisory Committee. Many of our staff serve ongoing roles in professional organizations and activities: Doug Bartlett is vice chairman of the Managed Aquifer Recharge Standards Committee with the Environmental & Water Resources Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers. This national committee is revising engineering standards related to aquifer recharge. Doug was co-chairman of the ISMAR6 Conference in October 2007. Barry Halterman is on the selection committee for the Herman Bouwer Internship Scholarship of the Phoenix chapter of the Arizona Hydrological Society. Paul Plato serves on the corporate board of the Arizona Hydrological Society. Clear Creek Associates is supportive of various nonprofit organizations through financial donations and volunteer service. Clear Creek Associates along with several dozen other local firms comprise the Phoenix chapter of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s Corporate Breakfast Club. This group of businesses is committed to helping the homeless and feeding the hungry—literally: the second Tuesday of each month, CCA employees and other volunteers don aprons and serve breakfast and visit with homeless and working poor at the dining room in downtown Phoenix. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international lay organization that serves the needs of the poor and provides an opportunity for those more fortunate to serve others. The local chapter has been assisting Arizona families since 1946.
