Groundwater Supply Services

Our reputation as a leading groundwater supply development firm is based on our extensive knowledge of and experience with well-drilling technology, borehole evaluation, and well design, combined with our expertise in project management and stakeholder communications.

Since 1999, we have designed, installed, and tested hundreds of exploratory borings, test wells, and public-supply wells. These have ranged from small-diameter private-supply wells, to large-scale, twenty-inch-diameter public-supply and Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) wells. We have designed and installed numerous wells in both basin-fill aquifers and in more complex fractured-bedrock settings.

Using advanced analytical tools, we are able to develop groundwater supplies from both quantity and quality standpoints, such that each well’s maximum potential can be realized.

Representative Projects include:
• Evaluation and reconstruction of City of Ontario, California, Well No. 9: Clear Creek Associates conducted a hydrogeological assessment of Ontario’s Well No. 9 to evaluate the feasibility of using rehabilitation (well modification) to address increasing nitrate concentrations. The analysis relied on downhole video surveys, depth-specific water sampling, and spinner flow meter logging. The results were used to develop a rehabilitation design that specified the installation of grout seals to seal off poor-quality zones. The modification resulted in more than a 50 percent drop in nitrate concentrations.
• Caterpillar groundwater exploration and development program: We assisted Caterpillar Inc. in identifying and developing a local groundwater resource in fractured volcanic rock, for use at the company’s proving grounds. Project tasks included geological mapping; fracture-trace analysis; and the siting, design, installation, and testing of five test wells and two supply wells.
• City of Chandler, Arizona, 10-MGD ASR: Clear Creek Associates was retained by the City of Chandler to support the development of a 10-MGD Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) project. Our responsibilities included the design, permitting, construction oversight, and testing of nine ASR wells that will store and recover reclaimed water. At build-out, the site will have the capacity to produce nearly 12,000 gpm (17 MGD) to supplement the city’s water needs during peak summer demand.
